Skoda will launch the next-gen Superb in India on February 23, 2016. We brought you a first drive of the India-bound all-new Skoda Superb a while ago.
The new Superb builds on its predecessor’s strengths, namely space and luxury, and is now bigger and more luxurious than the previous model that was discontinued recently. However, despite the increase in dimensions, the car is 75kg lighter; a result of the latest MQB underpinnings shared with the upcoming Volkswagen Passat.
The Superb is offered with the choice of a 160bhp, 2.0-litre diesel and a 178bhp, 1.8-litre petrol engine, both mated to dual-clutch automatic transmissions. The top-of-the-line Laurin & Klement variant will also be available in India and gets features such as a full-leather interior, Skoda’s SmartLink touchscreen system with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, and a 10-speaker Canton audio system.
The previous Superb offered all the bells and whistles at good value for money. However, the new model is expected to cost more with price estimated to be around Rs 25-30 lakh.
