Volvo has launched the updated V40 siblings in India. With the facelift, the V40 siblings receive a styling update to the exterior with a new grille up front and the introduction of Volvo’s signature ‘Thor’s Hammer’ LED headlamps.

Inside the cabin, both the V40 cars are offered with a choice of leather trims, with the V40 Cross Country additionally also getting the option of dual-tone upholstery. In terms of equipment, Volvo has packed both models with full LED headlamps, powered front seats with memory function for the driver, panoramic sunroof, park assist pilot with front and rear sensors and parking camera, alongside a host of safety equipment on their top trims. The biggest change for the V40 though is the introduction of a pedestrian airbag – the first system of its kind on a car in the country.

Available in Kinetic and range topping R-Design trims, the V40 facelift is priced from Rs 25.49-28.53 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi) and is available as a diesel only. Power is drawn from a 2.0-litre unit capable of delivering 150hp and 320Nm of torque. The motor is paired to an eight-speed automatic gearbox as standard.

The facelifted V40 Cross Country continues to be offered with the choice of a petrol and diesel engine. The diesel is the same as on its standard sibling with the petrol motor also carried over from before. The petrol Cross Country is available in the Momentum trim while the diesel is offered in the top Inscription trim. Prices range from Rs 27.2-29.4 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi).

In terms of pricing, the facelifted V40 is the most affordable hatchback as compared to its rivals, the Mercedes A-class and BMW 1-series, though the top trim is priced at par. The V40 Cross Country lacks any direct rivals; though in terms of pricing, it also falls within the same price bracket as the above mentioned luxury hatchbacks.
