    What's in a badge?

I’m planning to buy a compact SUV and am confused between the Renault Duster and Nissan Terrano. I want a high-end diesel model that will serve me well for 4-5 years. Which one would you recommend?

AAA We can understand your confusion as both the Duster and the Terrano are in essence the same car with different badges. There are a few subtle differences though. The Terrano has better styling and smarter alloy wheels, so if looks are important to you, it’s the one to go for. The Duster is a touch cheaper and the one to pick if cost is a priority.

However, if you are planning to drive off-road, then it’s only the Duster that offers you all-wheel-drive (though this version is the most expensive of all). Both the Terrano and the Duster will last you for 4-5 years and are quite reliable. That said, you may want to check on the service networks of Renault and Nissan in your neighbourhood — that too could decide which model you go in for.
