New Maruti Swift price, variants, features explained

Maruti has launched the fourth-gen Swift at Rs 6.49 lakh, and it is available in five variants – LXi, VXi, VXi (O) ZXi and ZXi+. The mid-spec VX (O) trim was not offered with the outgoing model. Besides the updated design and the new, frugal engine, the all-new Swift also gets far more features, with even entry-level variants getting six airbags and halogen projector headlights. Here are the features and safety kit on offer with each variant of the new Swift.

New Maruti Suzuki Swift variants explained

One of the biggest changes is the new Z12E 1.2-litre three-cylinder engine that replaces the older K-Series unit. It produces 82hp and 112Nm of peak torque, which is 8hp and 1Nm down compared to the outgoing motor. However, the three-pot is over 3kpl more efficient delivering an ARAI-rated 24.8kpl when paired to the 5-speed manual. The new Swift also gets a 5-speed AMT option, which is rated at 25.75kpl. Apart from the entry-level Swift LXi, all variants get both gearbox options.

The new Swift continues to see competition from the Hyundai Grand i10 Nios and Citroen C3, and serves as an alternative to the Tata Tiago and Maruti’s own Wagon R and Ignis.
