The fifth editon of the Parx Super Car Show in Mumbai witnessed high drama on the second day of the event as an Audi R8 caught fire while cruising in traffic on Sunday.

The car was not a participant in the parade, but the incident took place at the Worli-end of the Bandra-Worli Sea Link, which was part of the route of the Parx Supercar Parade 2013. The parade was delayed for nearly two hours as traffic on the stretch came to a standstill because of the mishap.

The Audi R8, it is believed, had been subject to aftermarket modifications, which, according to speculation, could have been the cause of the fire. Some eyewitnesses claim to have spotted an aftermarket exhaust on the R8. Cars like the Audi R8 are complex, high-tech machines and any modifications carried out need to be done by competent and experienced professionals.
