Hero MotoCorp ramps up production

    Contrary to recent media reports, two-wheeler industry fore-runner Hero MotoCorp is boosting production after overwhelming response to their scooter and motorcycle line-up.

    In conversation with Autocar India, Anil Dua, Hero MotoCorp's Senior VP (Marketing & Sales) has confirmed “We are in the process of transition of all our models from the erstwhile joint brand to the Hero brand. We started this transition in April and will be completing this process of brand migration by the end of September. Also, we have launched three new models under the brand name Hero– Impulse, Maestro and Ignitor. These new brands have received tremendous response, and we are augmenting their production capacity”.

    Hero has received great response for its new Maestro scooter, seeing which the company has increased production to 60,000 units per month. Apart from scooters, Hero is also experiencing high demand in the 125cc segment with its well received Super Splendor, Glamour and Glamour FI models. Anil Dua has told Autocar India in respect to this Hero MotoCorp is increasing production for its new Ignitor along with the Super Splendor, Glamour and Glamour FI models together, to 75,000 units per month up from 60,000 units last year. To top which the Ignitor will have a communication campaign in this T20 World Cup. Alongside, the on-off road Hero Impulse, will also benefit this campaign.

    Hero has also been engaging potential customers in test-rides and other fun activities to give them a feel of this unique model. Hero is simultaneously strengthening its R&D abilities, and as a result have tied up with Italy’s Engines Engineering, its third overseas partner adding to USA’s EBR and Austria’s AVL.

    And Hero launched as a brand in Sri Lanka earlier this month in collaboration with ABANS, a large business house in that country who will be Hero’s sole distributor. Nepal will be next, Hero entering their region later this month.

    And Hero is not stopping there. It plans to launch its products in evolved markets including Central America and parts of Africa later this year. Anil Dua also divulged Hero is considering setting up assembly lines in select markets, depending on business conditions.
