Yamaha mulls over exports to South, Central America

The company is considering exporting the SZ and FZ series as well as the R15 to South and Central America.

 

Post the export of the R15 bike to Japan, India Yamaha is now mulling over exporting the SZ and FZ series, along with its R15 bike, to South and Central America.The company is also expecting fresh orders from Japan. Yamaha currently exports the made-in-India bikes to 15 countries, including export of the SZ and FZ series to Philippines and South Africa. It also exports components of these bikes to Indonesia.

With the Chennai plant expected to be fully operational in 2014, the company aims at achieving over 95 percent localisation, and it plans to export 20 percent of its domestic production by 2018. Meanwhile, the company has also opened bookings for its Ray scooter and is inviting buyers to guess its ex-showroom price. 1,000 lucky bookings will win Yamaha merchandise.
