Car odour makes a difference: Survey

The findings of the survey reveal that 64 percent respondents think car fresheners add to the newness of the car.

Leading consumer research company Nielsen India conducted a survey in association with car-fresheners-maker Ambi Pur by interviewing 208 consumers in Delhi and Mumbai in May 2012 to understand their reactions to car odours.

The findings of the survey reveal that 64 percent respondents think car fresheners add to the newness of the car. An overwhelming 91 percent say that the smell they love the most in a car is when it smells like it’s new. When asked if the smell of a new car lasts for more than three months, 82 percent replied that it didn’t.

Another interesting fact the survey revealed is that 70 percent men say that they are more likely to impress a woman if the car smells brand new in comparison to a car that doesn’t. The survey also analysed the effect a new-car smell has on family members and popularity at work, and whether it affects the quality of relationships.
