Mazda has been planning to enter the Indian market since a while now and here’s proof – a fresh set of spy pictures of the CX-5 crossover. Caught testing in Gurgaon by alert readers Sanjiv Kumar and Arpit Gupta, the CX-5 is a five-seat crossover SUV. Its design is based on Mazda’s Kodo design language, inspired by the stance of a crouching cheetah.

The CX-5 comes equipped with Mazda’s SKYACTIV technology that features a rigid, lightweight platform, combined with a new series of efficient engines and transmissions, resulting in reduced emissions and fuel consumption.

Globally, the CX-5 is powered by a 2.0-litre 155bhp petrol motor and a 147bhp 2.2-litre diesel engine mated to a six-speed manual or automatic transmission. The CX-5 competes with the likes of the Honda CR-V.
