Small could be big for DSK Hyosung

125cc-150cc segment on the radar.

DSK Hyosung are planning a presence in the high volumes, Indian 125cc and 150cc motorcycle market. The new company is considering developing their own small capacity, India-specific bikes over the next two years. The Korean firm sells an off-road RT125D bike in Europe, the engine from which just may be feasible for an Indian bike. DSK plans further development and fine-tuning of these small capacity engines once their new plant and R&D centre are fully operational.

The company is presently scouting for land, hopeful that they will be able to narrow down on a suitable site within the coming three months. Meanwhile, betting big on their latest GT250R, DSK Hyosung anticipates healthy total sales of 3,750 units by the end of the current fiscal. The GV650 cruiser is delayed, now to launch around September-October 2012, while the GV250 will come in by December. DSK Hyosung is also working to expand their current Indian dealership strength of 18, to about 40 by March 2013.
