Huge discount on outgoing Captiva

GM is clearing stocks to make way for the facelifted model.

GM launched the facelifted Captiva two days ago but the company is yet to clear stock of the previous version. So to entice customers, the pre-facelift Captiva is being given away with a massive Rs 2 lakh discount approximately. Only the manual variant (LT) is in stock though. Originally priced at Rs 19.26 lakh (ex-showroom, Mumbai), it will now be available for Rs 17.26 lakh.

The refreshed model that was displayed at the Auto Expo in January was expected to be launched in the first quarter of the year, but GM pushed back its launch date to sell the batch of Captivas that were already imported. A slump in sales because of a downturn in the market resulted in fewer models getting sold than expected. Only 88 units were sold between March-May, 2012.

The new Captiva will initially be available in the top-end automatic variant only and will be sold alongside the outgoing model. The manual transmission variants will be added to the line-up later, possibly after the stock of around 140 units of the old batch gets cleared.
