It’s time once again for Autocar India’s September issue – our annual celebration of all the things that we love doing, but more of it, and packed tighter than usual into a mammoth 450-plus pages. We’ve turned 15 this year, and you can bet this is our biggest celebration yet. Of course there are exclusives, lots of new cars tested and compared head to head, all the news you haven’t yet heard of, and a bunch of features that we thoroughly enjoyed putting together for you. So, without further ado, here’s just a taste of what’s in store in Autocar India’s September 2014 issue.

Mercedes-Benz GLA-class – It may be a little late to the compact luxury SUV party, but Mercedes is making sure that it comes in with a bang. Read or exclusive India drive of the great looking new GLA to see what Mercedes’ new crossover is all about.

Fiat Avventura – India and indeed the world first saw the Avventura at the 2014 Auto Expo, and though it looked smart, it would have been easy to dismiss it as just another ‘cross hatch’. As we discovered in our test drive, however, it’s a little bit more than just that.

Lamborghini Huracán – After 11 long years, Lamborghini has retired the Gallardo. Its replacement – the Huracán – has a lot to live up to, and after having hammered it around some of our favourite Indian roads, the simple verdict is – oh yes, it certainly does. We also lined it up against something a little more powerful, just for perspective. Enjoy.

Hyundai i20 – With the new i20, Hyundai has pushed its big hatchback even further up market. Our first impressions were good, but just to keep it honest, we brought along three of the best premium hatchbacks on the market – the Fiat Punto Evo, the VW Polo and the Maruti Swift – and tested them back to back.

S-class vs XJ vs A8 vs 7-series – In the rarefied air of super-luxury sedans, it’s hard to really find faults. So when we brought together the four best diesel limousines in the world, what we did was identify four different flavours of supreme luxury, and tried to pick which one works best. Hard work indeed.

Jaguar F-type R Coupé – You might think that a car as bonkers as Jaguar’s new 542bhp F-type R is something that must be restricted to a monthly indulgence. We were determined to prove otherwise, so we spent a good 1000km with the car on our favourite roads, and on our favourite track. And just to see how far it’s come in four decades, we brought along its ancestor – the E-type – for a cruise down memory lane.

BMW M6 Gran Coupé vs Audi RS7 – A few months ago Audi’s ridiculously quick super-sedan, the RS7 completely blew our minds. Now BMW’s equally good looking and just-as-powerful four-door-coupé, the M6 Gran Coupé is here, and of course we put the two of them head to head.

Mega Track Test – The Irungattukottai Race Track near Chennai threw up a whole lot of challenges this year – rain and weathered tarmac, to be precise – but that only got Narain Karthikeyan more determined to set faster times. Find out how this year’s best driver’s cars fared in our annual Mega Track Test.

It’s an absolutely mammoth issue, and we couldn’t possibly list out all the great stories and scoops on this single page. So go and grab your own copy of this Collector’s Edition issue (or wait for your copy to arrive, if you’re a subscriber), and prepare yourself for a whole lot of fun reading!
