We recently reported that the upcoming Royal Enfield Super Meteor 650 is likely to be officially unveiled next month, and the bike has just been spotted testing yet again. With just under two weeks to go till its expected reveal, this latest test mule looks as close to production-ready as we’ve seen so far, revealing some fresh details about the upcoming model.

    • Rolls on CEAT Zoom Cruz tyres, like RE’s other 650cc models
    • Will become the first RE 650 to get the option of a Tripper navigation pod
    • Chrome finish on various areas of the motorcycle

While most previous test mules of the Super Meteor have been quite blacked-out and covered up, this latest sighting shows a motorcycle with a lot of silver-finished alloy components, as well as a number of chrome touches across the bike. The headlight rim, triple clamps, headlight bracket, handlebar risers and hand levers all feature a silver alloy finish, and this test mule sports a rather unique and distinctive horseshoe-type mount for the front mudguard, which is quite similar to what we saw on the SG650 Concept at EICMA last year.

Interestingly, the switch clusters also seem to be finished in silver, which is rather unusual. The switches themselves, along with the non-adjustable hand levers and front brake master cylinder, seem to be very similar to those you get on the smaller Meteor 350. The chrome treatment is reserved for the round rear-view mirrors, the exhaust system and the throttle body covers.

Another noteworthy confirmation from these images is that the Super Meteor 650 will roll on CEAT Zoom Cruz tyres, just like its 650cc siblings. The rubber will be wrapped around alloy wheels and measure a 100-section at the front. As for the rim sizes, the front tyre size is visible, but not very clearly, and it’s hard to discern whether it says 18-inch or 19-inch. An 18-incher seems to be the more likely candidate, since the Zoom Cruz aren’t available in a 19-inch size. However, the Meteor 350 uses a 19-inch front, and it’s possible that RE has developed a bespoke 19-inch Zoom Cruz tyre for the Super Meteor.

Finally, we see the bike sporting what appears to be RE’s Tripper navigation pod, indicating that the Super Meteor will likely become the first 650cc model to offer the unit as an optional accessory. As for standard equipment, the bike will get an upside-down front fork (an RE first), and dual-channel ABS. The headlight is likely to be an LED unit, and the accessories list will also include things like touring seats and mirrors, as we’ve seen from RE recently.

The mudguards and side panels have been wrapped in a black material, but seem to be cleanly formed and well finished. This indicates that the bike is pretty much production-ready, and perhaps RE is trying to hide the colour schemes ahead of the official unveil. Stay tuned for more details.
